So, the second part of my trip after Berlin (see earlier post) revolved around Egypt! It felt weird traveling back home this time round though: It was the first time for me to visit after having started to call Norway home, so the route I took while as long in number of flights was shorter timewise than traveling from the East Coast, but the good thing is that I didn’t have to suffer through any jetlag. It was also the first time for me to be in town after the final wave of my friends had moved abroad, and I realized that aside from my family and a couple remaining close friends and acquaintances, I barely knew anyone anymore. It definitely felt strange, but as always I was greeted at the airport by one of my close friends who made me feel right at home and spent the night at her place in Cairo before driving with her to Alexandria the next morning.
My 10 days back home can be summed up in the following words: nostalgia, flood of childhood memories, good food, warm weather, family, brother’s engagement and that cozy feeling you have when surrounded by people you’ve known your entire life.
Below the pictures to prove it 🙂 (Check the captions for some explanations)
