“Ajoutez deux lettres à Paris, c’est paradis!”

Its been one insane hectic week, but I loved every minute of it! As part of the French class that I’m taking at school, we get to go to Paris for a one week excursion. The course discusses the history, literature, art and music evolution in France starting from the Middle Ages up to the 20th century, so it really makes sense that after discussing all these subjects for weeks we get to see them in real life. 

We left Bergen last Sunday and headed to Paris; over the following seven days we literally toured the entire city and entered so many museums, churches, palaces and castles. It was one of my favorite Paris trips. While i’ve been to Paris around five times thus far, this was only the second time that I actually took the time to do the touristy stuff given that it was part of the course. We also had a museum pass and were given tours in French in most of the places, which was awesome because you get to appreciate the history and art on a whole other level.

I think my favorite churches that I’ve discovered this trip were the Saint Chapelle, St. Etienne du Mont and St. Severin. They’re not the churches that you first hear of when you discuss a trip to Paris with someone, but I would definitely recommend you to go visit.

Le Palais du Fontainebleu is also a palace that I hadn’t been to before, and I absolutely loved that we got a chance to visit. While Versailles is the one usually recommended by everyone, the crowds there are sometimes unbearable and don’t really let you enjoy your time there. So if you only have time for one palace and want to avoid crazy crowds, then give Fontainebleu a chance. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
